CARIN BERNARD

Art & Rhymes: House Party Artist

Currently residing in Rocky Hill, CT I am a mortgage processor by day and an artist the reminder of the time. UConn graduate and owner of Carinista Art LLC. Portraiture, abstract and digital art are the styles that keep me going. Primarily, acrylic paint is my medium of choice. I was motivated to become a professional artist when I learned I was dealing with depression years after the passing of my mother. Painting is my primary coping mechanism when it comes to combating depression and anxiety. Sometimes the art I create is less focused on the meaning of the subject, but more of an expression of how I’m feeling in that moment. I use my creations to promote self love by telling the story of my experiences. I hope to one day encourage other creatives to step outside of themselves artistically without feeling discouraged or inadequate.

I'm an emerging Black artist and graduate student at the University of St. Joseph where I am finishing her studies in clinical therapy. I plan to combine my passions of providing therapy to minority communities and creating beautiful artwork, to implement art therapy classes and creative development workshops.

TIYAH GEORGIA MARIE THOMPSON

Painter

My name is Tiyah Georgia Marie Thompson, which is what I sign on my art pieces- TGMT. I found my love for painting my senior year at Pathways Academy of Technology and Design in my graphic design and art portfolio class. That’s where I created my first mural which was 12 by 6 ft long. Throughout my three years at the University of Connecticut I strengthened my talents as a creative on the executive board of The Vision Black Wellness Journal. Post grad, I continued to challenge my abilities as a muralist and created my self proclaimed Juneteenth Showcasing in Bushnell Park 2020. White Sheets were seven different pieces that I painted that represented the passions of being a Black person in 2020. My most recent project has been working on the MLK39 project with the Rise Up Group and CTMurals. I continue to search for more mural opportunities and work on art commissions. Instagram: @TGMTPaints
